Cyberknife

One Year On

Alan has just reached the first anniversary of his Cyberknife treatment. We can’t believe how fast the first year has passed. We know had he not had the Cyberknife in August 2007 he would not be here now to celebrate his first anniversary.

We have had a nerve racking week waiting for the results of his CT scan. As anybody who has had cancer knows, waiting for CT scan results is a very anxious time. I can only describe it as someone pressing the PAUSE button on your life; life just seems to stand still. I am sure it is natural to think the worst but both Alan and I were convinced that the scan results would show that his tumour had started growing again.

Thankfully we can celebrate; Alan’s scan results showed that his tumour has not grown. His tumour has not grown now for over 12 months. This is wonderful news for us. Although the tumour has not shrunk yet, the fact that it has not grown in the 12 months since his Cyberknife treatment is a good indication that the tumour is being or has been destroyed. The longer the tumour does not grow for indicates that the Cyberknife treatment has been successful.

Our lives can go on now for another 6 months. We are just so thankful that Alan had the Cyberknife treatment. We hope Cyberknife can help others in the way it has given Alan back his life.
