Cyberknife

Our Arrival At Georgetown University Hospital

Our first appointment at Georgetown University Hospital was a very apprehensive and nerve-racking time. We waited anxiously in the consultation room awaiting the arrival of Dr Gagnon, Alan’s radiation oncologist. We were so frightened he would give us bad news – we had become accustomed to that!

Dr Gagnon was very informative about Alan’s forthcoming Cyberknife treatment but at last we had some good news! He informed us that treating Alan’s tumour would be relatively easy and as his tumour had not spread to other organs, control of the current tumour would be very achievable. He advised us that as Alan’s tumour was a slow growing one it would probably respond slowly to the Cyberknife treatment. We could expect for the Cyberknife treatment to take up to 2 years before we saw the end result. We didn’t care, as long as Alan got better. We couldn’t believe how positive Dr Gagnon was. It was the first time we had had some positive news. What a relief! Bring on the Cyberknife!
